For those of us who have not yet found love in our own lives, love is like being thirsty on an island in the ocean, surrounded by water but unable to drink. Love is the treasure we all seek. It is God manifested in us, it is the journey and the goal and from a scientific standpoint, it is our purpose. So, why then is it so ungraspable? Why when we all have it to give, do we guard it so closely? Why do we make the ritual of finding love so difficult to complete? We, the “single” populace are about to face another holiday season. To those who have already claimed love, the holidays are a time of giving and sharing but to those of us still searching, it is a time of desired yet unfound warmth and comfort. How many amazing people will shed tears of loneliness in half empty beds this season? How many good movies will be watched from half empty couches and half full blankets? How many kettles of hot chocolate will be half gone and cold on these impending winter mornings? The trouble with love is that it is everywhere but one cannot hope to go looking for it. If we seek it out, it flees like mist on the wind. Why is there no magical net, woven of hopes and dreams, to capture love like fireflies in the evening? Why is there no balm to rub on the soul and fill the
emptiness? This holiday season, I have but one wish, one desire.
This holiday season, I wish that those of us with unclaimed love to
give, will raise the gates and tear down the walls guarding our hearts.
This holiday season, I wish for more movies to be watched in tandem, for
fewer sides of the bed to be unused and for more kettles of hot

accepting and willing to endure whatever comes at all cost for the
greater good. Finding a partner that is willing to do the same is
