This will be the abridged version of distribution updates. For my readers like Mary, who prefer bullet points, this is write up your area.
- In early July I signed a non-exclusive distribution deal with a sales rep to handle domestic and international rights.
- Upon reviewing the film (the president of the company and my sales rep loved it) they envisioned a place for the film on HBO/Cinemax in Europe and some potential foreign outlets that would consider the film as an ongoign series.
- I was recently notified by my sales rep that she pitched the idea to an upstart network that will feature more “urban” (i.e. black and latino) programming.
- A second recent notification indicated that LifeTime TV was interested in viewing the film as a movie of the week and as a series on their network.
It’s all very exciting stuff. Unfortunately my status of playing the “waiting game” hasn’t changed. But the upshot is, there are bigger opportunities on the horizon.
I had planned to make some changes to the film, i.e color correction and sound equalization but that will have to wait. I’m excited about the opportunity to write full time for my own TV series so I am wasting no time getting these new copies of the film to my sales rep.
